Bryce Canyon National Park lies to the southwest (1 hour) of our location in Escalante, Utah, Capitol Reef National Park is to the north (1 hour) and GlenCanyon National Recreation area (Lake Powell) is to the East. We are bordered on the west and north by the Aquarius plateau with hundreds of lakes for fishing and an expansive area for viewing wildlife and exploration.
Scenic Byway 12 winds past our property and is the major access road for the Grand Staircase monument. This route was just designated as an All-American Road by the national byways organization. Near the town of Escalante there are back roads which offer access to sections of the monument such as:
1- The Burr Trail - Going south east from the town of Boulder
2- The “Hole-in-the-Rock road - south east from the town of Escalante
3- Cottonwood Canyon Road - south from Cannonville and connects with highway 59 going to Lake Powell.
This region offers a myriad of activities for the person who is adventurous in spirit:
Come for a few days and give yourself some leeway in your itinerary. You’ll wish you had more than a week just to become familiar with all there is to see and do in this magnificent region. Go a different direction every day for six or seven days and you won’t see the same thing twice, nor will you be satisfied that you have had enough. So come and get a taste of what we have to offer…we expect you’ll be coming back season after season!
Mid June – Cattle go up on the mountain In October – they come down on their own and they come to the bridge on the Slot Canyons Inn property – cowboys come and get the animals as they come down. This is a unique event to see the cows coming down off the mountain on their own accord. There's still quite a bit of the real western cowboy life in Escalante. Heritage Day Festival – Memorial Day Weekend Fourth of July – Boulder City Parade Pioneer Day (24th of July) – Escalante Last weekend in September – Escalante Canyons Art Festival and plein air competition
Thank you for the beautiful, peaceful experience.
